El coche se ve muy guapo, pues pongo el artículo y las fotos Ford seems to have got down to serious business with the Fiesta ST, the most powerful road-going model since the XR2 was launched back in 1981. It offers more power than even the long-gone RS Turbo, as well as being engineered to be a much more biddable machine altogether. With a badge which abbreviates "Sports Technologies", it's also the first production car to have been designed by Ford's TeamRS organisation, formed early last year to combine the know-how of engineers from both the competition division and the performance road car department. With 148bhp on tap, the two-litre ST - still to go on sale, of course - is reckoned to sprint from 0-60mph in just under 8.0 seconds and romp on to a top speed of 129mph. Ford has lowered and firmed up the suspension, fitted quicker-response steering, standardised on those rhyming Pirelli P Zero Nero tyres, uprated the brakes (the ST is the first Fiesta to have discs all round) and given the five-speed gearbox closer ratios reached by a shorter-throw change. The design team spent a lot of time working on something which you don't find on all sporty cars, but is noticeable when it isn't there - similar feel and weighting for the steering, clutch, brakes and gear lever action. Following on from the Focus ST170 and the Mondeo ST220, the three-door Fiesta ST differs from the standard models in having a wider grille, a new front bumper and a tiny spoiler under the air dam. There are new body side mouldings and side skirts all the way back to the revised rear bumper with its built-in diffuser, and a roof spoiler is standard. The wide alloy wheels come in nine-spoke 16" or eleven-spoke 17" designs. Ford will be offering the ST with a choice of eight body colours, including the Performance Blue finish previously seen only on the Focus RS. Inside, the sports front seats are in black leather with either red or blue cloth centre panels, although full leather trim will be an extra-cost option. There are white on black instrument faces, metal pedals, a thick leather-rimmed steering wheel, and enough ST logos to make sure the driver doesn't confuse this car with a 1.25 Finesse. |
